Gregor Accounting has Partnered with Ramp

It's not often I come across a software service in use by one of my clients that I actually like and adopt for my business. Ramp quickly won a prominent place on my desktop, pinned to my taskbar.

At the basic level, Ramp is a credit card provider/expense processor, offering 1.5% cash back on all purchases. Nothing too exciting there. Add instant issuance of virtual cards, AI enabled receipt capture and transaction coding, automatic transaction sync to most major ERP systems and things get much more interesting.

Continuing down the offerings – accounts payable automation, procurement process optimization, cash forecasting, treasury management, meaningful rate of return on cash balances, etc. and the program becomes well worth the very reasonable per user monthly cost for Ramp Plus. Oh wait, there is also a $0 per user cost option available, if you want to start with a few less bells and whistles than what is included with the plus version.

Many pain points I’ve heard from my clients over the years can be addressed by the features offered by Ramp. In addition to using Ramp personally, I’ve completed their training to be a Certified Ramp Specialist.

Not yet convinced? Additional details of the highlights that add the most value are included below, some of which require Ramp Plus subscription model:

1.5% cash back credit card rewards – also redeemable for gift cards with over 150 retailers, transferable to points with certain travel companies or can be donated to over 30 charities.

Variable rate (2.0% at time of posting) interest earned on cash balances held in Ramp Cash – This is an add on to the expense management platform, but compared to the next to nothing earnings on checking accounts at substantially all banks, this is an immediate improvement to your finances.

Cash sweep account interest – Similar to above, Ramp Treasury allows you to earn interest on your money. Through the sweep program, you can earn a higher rate of return on your short term cash, with long term options available.

Virtual payment card issuance – Help avoid a comprised card by using virtual cards for specific vendors. If a primary card gets compromised, your vendor purchases can still process as normal. If one vendor card gets compromised, you can still function with other virtual cards or your physical card.

Spend control – Customize parameters around individuals, departments, or vendors to ensure your business does not overspend. You can keep track of your monthly or annual spend and track your remaining budget by spend category in real time.

Automated Expense report processing and approval – Employees submit expense reimbursement requests and can be automatically reimbursed, based on policy guidelines.

Receipt Capture from email – Ramp can integrate with Outlook or Gmail to scan for expense receipts and automatically add the receipt to the expense transaction.

Receipt capture through the Ramp app – You and your employees can snap a picture of a receipt and automatically add to Ramp enabling auto matching to the card transaction.

Vendor management – Ramp allows you to set parameters around vendor approval, including when a new vendor requires approval and who needs to approve. A little upfront setup goes a long way.

Realtime sync with your accounting system – Ramp doesn’t replace your accounting software, but it helps it work more efficiently. With proper setup, Ramp enables real time updates to your accounting system.

Procurement optimization – 2-way or 3-way matching can be optimized through Ramp with advanced procurement functionality. Ensure you are paying what you agreed to pay or easily flag for follow up when an out of policy difference is identified.
